At 932 Clyde St, the Amarillo Elks Lodge #923 has been a gathering place where handshakes mean something and the bartender actually knows what he's talking about. Members rolling in off I-40 from Tucumcari or heading west from Oklahoma know this stop by reputation: pull in, get your bearings, and somebody will point you toward the best meal in town before your engine cools down.

The lodge earned its 4.4-star reputation the old-fashioned way, through straight talk and genuine care. Ask the bartender about steaks and he'll steer you past the tourist traps and toward something worth eating. That kind of honest local knowledge is baked into the culture here, not a policy posted on a wall.

This is BPOE Lodge #923, part of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, one of America's oldest fraternal organizations. The Amarillo chapter carries that legacy forward on the high plains of the Texas Panhandle, where community ties run as deep as the Ogallala Aquifer beneath the caprock.

What We Offer

The lodge offers RV parking with 50-amp service and water hookups at just $25 a night, a rate that makes most commercial campgrounds look embarrassing. Spots are back-in style with power and water available. Note there is no dump station on site, so plan accordingly. Elks membership is required to stay.

Inside, you'll find a full-service bar staffed by people who take their recommendations seriously, a pool area that members have called out specifically in reviews, and the kind of common-room atmosphere where a stranger from another lodge becomes a familiar face inside of twenty minutes. The lodge regularly hosts member events, charitable fundraisers, and community gatherings that keep the Panhandle calendar busy.

Traveling Elks from lodges across the country, including regulars from Tucumcari Lodge #923 and beyond, make this a planned stop on cross-country routes. If you're passing through Amarillo, this is the kind of place that turns a fuel stop into a story worth telling.

"A fun lodge with easy RV parking. The site are back in and have power and water but no dump. The folks are Texas friendly! We pulled into Amarillo from Tucumcari lodge 1172. An easy 109 mile drive. Lots in Amarillo to see of the mother road. Cadillac Ranch etc. But, whatever you do don't miss eating at the Big Texan. Hungry? Eat a 72 oz steak in an hour and it's free. Not so hungry? My ribeye was one of the best I've had."

"The people at the Elks are always amazing. We parked in their RV parking lot, which offers 50-amp service and water. You can't beat $25.00 a night. You must be an Elks member to stay. The pool looked great, but we didn't get in. We enjoyed playing shuffleboard while having adult beverages with some very friendly people."

"Great bartender advised me about better steak offerings than The Big Texan. He was 💯 per cent right. It was fun to go to The Big Texan, just don't expect a great steak. Friendly Lodge members bought the three waters I asked to purchase from the bar. Stayed at the RV area, it had been raining all day and the sites were muddy and flooded."
